I am inviting West Seattle poets to read at Poetry Plaza for 10-15 minutes. I will record the readings and post them on this site. I like to think each reading awakens the poetic spirit that inhabits this space.

Koon Woon has two award winning books out from Kaya Press (USC). He is the president of the Chrysanthemum Literary Society, devoted to literature, education, and world peace. He is also the editor and publisher of Goldfish Press.
Brasswax (aka Jason Kirk) is the composer of The Mirror of Simple Souls, an opera collaboration with the poet Anne Carson. A native Detroiter, he received his poetry MFA from the University of Michigan and now lives in occupied Duwamish territory in Seattle, Washington, where he performs, records, and exhibits poems at schools, community and literary events, comedy clubs, and as half of a touring burlesque duet. Zachary Brett Charles (they/he) is a young artist and teacher living in Seattle, WA with their partner, their cat, Frankie, and their dog, Earle. He loves writing of all kinds but mostly works on poetry and short stories. He has poetry published in the ezine Breathe and is a member of the Poetry Postcard Fest Project Board. They also make multimedia works that involve painting, drawing, and collaging. They have lots of thoughts and feelings about the state of the world which can hopefully be deciphered in their works of art. Above all, they consider themself a story teller weaving a tale they cannot finish.
Dorothy Lemoult is a French-American multi-disciplinary artist and expressive arts therapist. West Seattle has been home since 2011. She was featured reader at Poetry Bridge several times. Her writing has appeared in “City Arts”, on King County buses and her poem “Source” was recently published in the anthology “Voices of the Grieving Heart”. Come see her paintings in October at Salmon Creek Café!
Miriam Bassuk:Though originally from the east coast, Miriam treasures her life in the Northwest. Her daily walks inspire her with the teeming life of eagles, herons, and the occasional sighting of Orcas that thrive in the Puget Sound. She has been published in The Journal of Sacred Feminine Wisdom, Raven Chronicles, PoetsWest Literary Journal, and 3 Elements Review. She was one of the featured poets in the digital portion of the WA 129 project sponsored by the Washington State poet laureate.
